“I’m terribly sorry, but I’m going to have to take a break from public appearances for a few months. I’ve got a little bit of the cancer, down in my lower gut. It’s localised, it’s easy to operate on, and thank gosh we found it. I am told, God willing, I will make a full recovery, and I’ll come up smiling around February. In the meantime, filming is not affected. God sometimes does a small poo in your man-bag, but we’re going to be OK and whatever life throws at you, you’ve got to grow old disgracefully.”
